ANAMBRA PEOPLE is a child of necessity. It is a magazine conceptualized to celebrate and project the State in positive lights. In recent times, Anambra has only been painted and portrayed in bad light in the media, with negative news and mostly because of investment apathy in the media. It is imperative now to own and control our own narrative, to harness the soft power and the instrument to control public consciousness which the media affords.
That is what gave birth to this project, and it is meant to promote and project everything good about our dear State. We have set out to promote, using this platform, the best we are known for – our cultures, brands and our people. ANAMBRA PEOPLE will equally beam its search light on our entertainment, religion, politics, etc. The project will also be utilized to bring to limelight Anambra @30 activities. The magazine is the first online and hardcopy magazine about Anambra, meant to make you realize the beauty and richness of our heritage. Our business model is to distribute the magazine free of charge. Our channels of distributions are; parks, churches, hotels, etc. We seek adverts from our businessmen and brand promoters to make this work.
We have to put a stop to the wrong definition of our entire State with only the gory tales of Upper Iweka, what Chimamanda Adichie called the dangers of a single story, and because tales of hunting will always glorify the hunters, we the Lions have to become our own story tellers. We need to control the narrative and market our potentials to the world. Anambra is a beautiful state and our contributions to the development of Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. If we don’t say, “Here I am”, nobody will say “There you are”.
