NNEWI – Hoodlums believed to be thieves have reportedly continued to invade homes in Anambra State stealing property worth millions of Naira, ANAMBRAPEOPLE reports.

The thieves who specialise in stealing clothes, and food items among other things, according to sources, climb treetops from which point they survey the victim’s compound and movement before they strike.

The thieves, according to one of the victims at Umuegbu, Ngo Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, yesterday Jonah Ugonwamadu operate at wee hours of the day and on sit-at- home days adding that the thieves take their victims unawares when they were away at work.

“I came back from a family function at the Civic centre yesterday, only to see my house ransacked and my money and belongings stolen. They even stole my pot of Jollof rice and other food items,” Ugonwanmadu lamented.

Other sources had lamented losing valuable properties to the hoodlums including handsets, money among other valuables.

This is happening despite police efforts to douse crime in Nnewi, Awka, Awka-Etiti, Ozubulu, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnobi, and other parts of the state where the security operatives patrol daily in their continued fight against crime in Anambra.

Mascot Nwankwo, a resident at Adazi-Ani, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, attributed the alleged Increasing crime rate in Anambra and Southeast in general to the incessant Monday sit-at-home in the geopolitical zone which had continued to drain the economy.

Nwankwo lamented that the sit-at-home had only succeeded in breeding criminality among the youths, whom he regretted had taken to kidnapping, and armed robbery, among other vices.
