…Soludo pledges mutual cooperation
The Member Representing Ogbaru Constituency II of Anambra State House of Assembly has emerged Speaker of the eight legislature of the state while Member Representing Awka South II Constituency, Chukwuma Okoye, was elected Deputy Speaker.
.Other principal officers were also elected by the legislators.
Their election through a voice vote of the entire members during plenary was held after inaugurationand proclamation of the eighth House of Assembly by Gov. Chukwuma Soludoin the legislative complex in Awka, today.
Congratulating the legislators shortly after their inauguration, Gov. Soludo described the legislature as an indispensable arm of government.
According to the governor, his administration will further demonstrate its keenness for inclusive governance through mutual cooperation to deliver good dividends to ndi Anambra.
“I congratulate our newly inaugurated legislators. Irrespective of your different party affiliations, you have been employed by the people to ensure that Anambra blossoms. The executive, the legislature and the judiciary, must work in a collaboratively, coordinative and cooperative way to achieve project Anambra by making the state livable and prosperous. If you all act fully in accordance with the oath of office and allegiance you have taken, I’m sure that Anambra will have the most productive legislature in the country. It is a new productive partnership and as the head of the executive arm of government, I am ready so that we can achieve our common goal which is a greater Anambra I am grateful to my colleagues for electing me as the Speaker. The 8th Assembly under my watch will foster a relationship with the executive and the judiciary based and cooperation and mutual respect. I sincerely look forward to a relationship of healthy inter-dependence where each arm approaches one another as a responsible partner in governance,” he said.
Also speaking during his acceptance speech, Udeze promised to improve the welfare and security of the people through developmental-oriented Bills and motions as well as serve as an effective watchdog of the state’s commonwealth.
National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Head of Service, Theodora Igwegbe, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Principal Secretary to the Governor, J. P. C Anaeto and members of the state Executive Counci, among others attended the event.
