The operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a gunman in a popular hotel in Anambra State. AnambraPeople reports.
The Spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Sunday, in which he also noted that a pistol and other incriminating items were recovered from the suspect.
According to him, the gunman was seen roaming about in the hotel before he was accosted and arrested.
The statement read “Surveillance Operatives who observed the man prowling around the premises on 20th July, 2023 accosted him and conducted a search on his person. One English-made pistol and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.
“The suspect who gave his name as Akuchieani Echezona, a male resident of Ifite Awka, was disarmed, arrested and taken into custody.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has ordered State CID Awka to take over the case and investigate source of the weapon as well as the gunman’s intention for going armed to the hotel.
“The suspect is to be arraigned in court at conclusion of investigation.”
