…says Bigly Boys caught with Tramadol, other narcotics

By Raymond Ozoji, Awka

The Executive Director (Operations) of the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Dr. Christian Madubuko, has accused Bigly firm of recruiting criminal elements as revenue collectors.

Madubuko, who disclosed this exclusively to our correspondent, said Bigly boys were caught with Tramadol, Mkpulumili and other narcotics by officers of the Nigeria Police, and that the boys were also caught issuing manual receipts for revenue collected at Anaku junction Ayamelum local government area of the state.
He also disclosed that in accordance with the contractual agreement reached with Bigly firm, Bigly was mandated by the state government to use Point Of Sale (POS) machines for his transactions to enable government to determine how much his company realised from revenue collections and how much percentage he would be given.

But on the contrary, Madubuko said Bigly breached the agreement as his boys collected revenues in cash and also issued manual receipts as against Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s authorisation that there would be no cash transactions and that revenue collections would be done digitally.

He said it was to avoid double taxation that Anambra State adopted digital payment system but the likes of Bigly, according to him, wants the state to return to manual collection.

He said the Soludo administration says no to manual collection as some elements have amassed stupendous wealth through such illegal means and at the expense of the general public.
Madubuko maintained that if Bigly must work with the Board of Internal Revenue, he must work with POS and there would be no manual collection anywhere to enable government to know how much he realised and how much he would be paid based on percentage as agreed.
On allegations of diverting revenues in Ayamelum area, Madubuko challenged his accusers to produce evidence of his revenue diversions and not peddle false allegations against him.
