Anambra State Government Announces Funeral Plans For Late Former Governor Mbadinuju

The Anambra State Government has announced the funeral plans for former Governor Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, who passed on April this Year. Mbadinuju served as the Governor of Anambra State from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2003, and will be given a State Burial to honor his contributions to the state.

Born on June 14, 1945, Mbadinuju was elected on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and took office as Governor when civil rule was restored on May 29, 1999. He failed as a Governor and served for only one term. He’ll be remembered for introducing the Ota and Bakassi boys to checkmate massive incidences of crime in the State when he held sway.

To ensure that Mbadinuju receives a dignified funeral as the former Governor of Anambra State, his family and the State Government have coordinated the following schedule for the final passage rites:

On November 22, the Anambra State Government will receive Mbadinuju’s body at the Government House Courtyard for Lying-in-State. This will be an opportunity for the public to pay their respects.

On November 23, the State Government will hold a Commendation Service and Thanksgiving Ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Awka to honor Mbadinuju. This event will be attended by his former political associates, colleagues, and friends.

On the same day, Mbadinuju’s family will hold the Wake, Praise/Worship, and Tribute Sessions in his hometown of Uli, Ihiala LGA.

On November 24, an Interdenominational Burial Service will be held at Mbadinuju’s Uli Country Home, followed by his interment. After the burial, a reception and refreshments will be provided for the guests.

Condolence visits will continue on November 25, as organized by Mbadinuju’s family.

On November 26, outing services and further condolence visits will be arranged by his family to conclude the funeral proceedings.

Governor Mbadinuju served Anambra State diligently, and as his farewell, his famous slogan “It Shall Be Well With Anambra State!” is echoed once again. May his soul rest in peace.

Signed,
PROF. SOLO CHUKWULOBELU
Secretary to State Government
