In line with its policy of keeping Nnewi free from kidnappers, armed robbery, cyber crime (Yahoo Yahoo), exploitation of young girls and other forms of crimes, the Nnewi Vigilante Service has commenced the implementation of its security plan known as Operation Sweep.

The operation kicked off on Sunday with a raid on two buildings at Obiofia Nnewichi where over thirty suspected Yahoo boys and kidnappers live. The successful raid led to the arrest of the suspects and some young girls that have been allegedly exploited by them.

Also found during the raid were charms, mobile phones and dozens of sim cards allegedly used by the suspects for their operations.

The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution. Also, the building where they live have been sealed by the Nnewi Vigilante Group in order to enable further investigation on the incident.
