The Senator representing Anambra Central and Chairman Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs who is also Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development, Senator Dr Victor Umeh OFR recently, led the owners of houses in Abule-Ado area of Festac, Lagos state to the headquarters of the Federal Housing Authority (F.H.A), Abuja where they met with the Managing Director, Senator Gbenga Ashafa and the General Manager, Zonal Coordination of FHA, Barrister Hajara Kadiri in a bid to permanently resolve all the issues that led to the demolition of houses in Abule-Ado and to forestall further occurrence.

Emerging from the closed door Meeting, the Group led by its Chairman, Chief Henry Arinzechi expressed satisfaction with the resolutions reached in the Meeting pointing out that “the matter has been brought to favourable conclusion.” He emphasized on the key roles played by Senator Victor Umeh and his total commitment in ensuring that the multi-billion naira properties of people in Abule-Ado are not further destroyed. Chief Henry Arinzechi therefore thanked Senator Umeh for initiating the truce and as well, the M.D of FHA, Senator Gbenga Ashafa for yielding to the pleas and consequently, called off the demolition exercise.

Nevertheless, Chief Henry Arinzechi speaking after a Meeting with the Chairman of Senate Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development, Senator Aminu Tambuwal which was facilitated by Senator Victor Umeh further disassociated the Kings Royal Estate from any legal suit challenging the F.H.A for the removal of structures built on the “right of way and waterways.” He stressed that though the executioners overstepped the perimeters earlier stipulated, with the intervention of distinguished Senator Victor Umeh and His Excellency, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who are Vice Chairman and Chairman Senate Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development respectively, the Federal Housing Authority led by Senator Gbenga Ashafa has shown commitment to bring the matter to a logical and favorable conclusion.
