3 Most Educated Traditional Rulers in Anambra

Anambra has so many educated traditional rulers who can hold their own in their various fields . Some of them are lawyers, Doctors, accountants etc.However, going through their profiles, these three traditional rulers stand out as the most educated. What sets them apart is their affiliation with prestigious institutions, including Ivy League schools, which have undoubtedly shaped their careers and ultimately influenced their calling as traditional rulers and their scholarly contributions.

They are:

Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe

Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe,the traditional ruler of Onitsha. He stands out with his impressive educational background. He completed his primary and secondary education in Nigeria before earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Stanford University in California. Later, he pursued a Master’s degree in Business Administration at Columbia University. In 1979, he furthered his studies by attending the Senior Executive Course of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Nigeria. A degree from Stanford University is no Child’s play.

Prof Lazarus Ekwueme

Another highly educated traditional ruler in Anambra is Prof Lazarus Ekwueme, the traditional ruler of Oko Community. His educational journey began at Government College, Umuahia, where he completed his secondary education. Seeking to refine his musical talents, he pursued multiple diplomas in music, speech, and drama at the renowned Royal College of Music in London. He furthered his studies at the University of Durham, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Prof Ekwueme undertook postgraduate studies in music theory at Yale University. He has been rated as one of Africa’s most educated musicologists.

Prof Onuora Nwuneli

Prof Onuora Nwuneli is the traditional ruler of Igbakwu Community. His academic achievements are remarkable. Prof Nwuneli holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in mass communications. He studied at prestigious institutions such as Texas Southern University and the University of Wisconsin. Afterward, he became a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos, later ascending to the esteemed rank of Professor of Mass Communications. Prof Nwuneli’s expertise in development communications has earned him profound respect, and his consultancy work for various organizations and countries speaks to his influence and expertise.
