The peaceful protest of all lawyers in Anambra State which held today 23rd May, 2024 had commenced at the Anambra State Judiciary Headquarters, Awka when the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr Onyeka Ibezim, the Special Adviser to the Governor, Air Marshal (Rtd) Obi and the Attorney General of Anambra State, Prof S Ifemeje stormed the take off point.

In a report by Emeka Okeke, the Chairman of all Chairmen, Mr Nsofor minced no words in presenting a three point request to the Government. He asked for immediate release of Mr Azoro. He further asked for killers of Mr Awa to be brought to Justice and finally asked that the government should show commitment to security by ending the tide of kidnappings and senseless murder of not only lawyers but all the people in the state especially the downtrodden. In all, he scored the government poor on security and charged His Excellency to be Excellent in security matters.

The Attorney General was the first to speak. She noted that Mr Awa worked under her as a Principal State Counsel. She assured that the new Commissioner of Police is poised for action.

The Deputy Governor in his speech assured that the State is doing his best and further called on lawyers to show the government where the criminals are hiding so that they will catch them.

The Bar in response gave the government one month to not only work on security but to ensure that their effort is felt both in the urban and rural areas.
