The Children, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Offences Court in Awka, Anambra State on Wednesday docked a 60-year-old retired teacher, Ike Okoye over alleged molestation and engagement in same sex activities with young boys.

Okoye, a native of Okpoko village, Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of the state, is facing a two-count charge of molestation and unnatural offence.

According to Police Prosecutor, Insp. Chinyere Okechukwu, the accused committed the offences sometimes in 2013 at Isuofia.

“That you, Ike Okoye, sometime in the year 2013 at Isuofia did attempts to molest and commit an unnatural offence to two young boys by masturbating their penis and you thereby committed an offence,” she said.

The offence contravened Section 197 of criminal code cap 36 Vol ll of the Revised law of Anambra state of Nigeria 1999 as Amended.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In her ruling, Chief Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 21 for hearing.
