According to investigations, the victims fell ill after consuming beans, with symptoms including watery diarrhea and strange ailments.
The development has sent shockwaves through the community, with many abandoning bean consumption until health authorities provide clarity.
The alleged poisoning has also had a devastating impact on local businesses, with sellers of beans and related products like moi-moi and bean cake (akara) reporting a significant decline in sales.
Vendors at Ochanja Central Market and Ose-Okwodu Market, who wished to remain anonymous, confirmed the situation, expressing concern over the sudden drop in demand.
Health authorities have yet to comment on the situation, leaving consumers in a state of uncertainty.
