Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo has urged residents of the state to take advantage of her 54th birthday celebration to show love to their neighbors, vulnerable and downtrodden.

Soludo made the appeal on Wednesday at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka during free medical check up and eye check organised for widows and widowers across the state as part of of activities to mark her birthday.

She said putting smiles on people’s faces was one of the easiest things to do and would make the world a better place to be.

She said, “Show love to people, especially the less-privileged. If it’s been difficult for you previously, just do it today for my birthday.

“Try and put smiles on the faces of those around you. And it doesn’t take much. The elderly, sickly, visiting them and relieving them of certain domestic work, including sweeping their houses and washing their clothes is enough relief for them.”

Underscoring the importance of healthy lifestyle, daily exercise and having gardens behind one’s compound, the governor’s wife said she had distributed seedlings to several residents of the state.

She promised to distribute more to those willing to put them to use with organic manure to tackle prevailing hunger across the country.

“We all must go back to farm to address the prevailing economic challenges biting hard on the mass.

“What I’m telling you isn’t rocket science. I’ve experimented it and I’m currently enjoying the harvest, natural food for that matter.

She added, “Everyone here present, including persons living with disabilities need to be healthy by eating natural foods devoid of chemicals to enjoy bettee life and avoid common sickness.

“90% of today’s sickness is from the chunks we consume which are filled with chemicals assumed to be for preservation.”

Free vision checks and free glasses administered to over 1000 persons, as well as distribution of bags of rice, beans and gallons of red oil formed highpoint of the event.
