Nsugbe- The Senator Representing Anambra North Senatorial District and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Primary Health Care and Disease Control, Senator Dr Tony Nwoye has flagged off the distribution of fertilisers worth over N150 million to Local farmers in Anambra North Senatorial District.
Senator Nwoye shared 1,900 bags of 50kg fertiliser to smallholder farmers across the four local government areas Anambra West, Anambra East, Oyi and Ayamelum in the first phase of the exercise as part of a broader strategy to ensure sustainable agricultural practices while Onitsha North, Onitsha South and Ogbaru will take part in the second Phase.
In His Remark, Dr Tony Nwoye urged the recipients to make optimal use of the fertilizers, emphasizing that it is not for sale. If you are unable to utilize the entire allocation, please share it with your neighbors at no cost. I will be disappointed to hear of any instances of wastage or resale; instead, let us ensure that these resources reach those who need them most.
“Our People are known for farming. We will make sure we encourage our Local Farmers. Together, we can build a Senatorial Zone that is self-sufficient in food production. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our collective progress.”
Senator Nwoye highlighted some of his Interventions for the good People of Anambra North in Area of Agriculture which include: Provisional of Yam Grinding Machines to Some Constituents, Provision of Cassava Grinding Machines to some Constituents to boast Cassava processing, Provision of Mini Rice Processing Machines with Destoning Components for Farmers in Ayamelum Axis, that is yet to be installed, Provision of 20 pieces of Boats for 20 Fishermen in The Zone and Construction of Fish Farm and Poultry Clusters and Training Centre at Ojilipbuta Abata Nsugbe for Young Fish Farmers in the Zone.
Chief Emeka Chinwuba on his part thanked Senator Nwoye for His love for the people most especially the poor in our society. He described the distribution of fertilisers as apt and timely as farmers were currently in farming season, saying that the senator, Dr Tony Nwoye, had been empowering his constituents and the people of Anambra North, Anambra State and even non-indigenes of the State before he became the Senator.
