On August 10th in Brampton, Canada, the Flavours of Nigeria food festival, organized by IIASDG Africa and Glogold Consulting Ltd Canada, showcased the rich culinary heritage of Nigeria. As part of the Crossroads of Culture Festival, the event featured Nigerian food vendors offering traditional dishes like Amala and Ewedu, Jollof rice, and pepper soup, among others. Attendees enjoyed vibrant performances from cultural dancers and musicians, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The event’s highlight was the arrival of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was welcomed by event organizers Anambra born Chuks Anyaduba and Akin Oduntan, along with Members of Parliament Arielle Kayabaga (London West), Shafqat Ali (Brampton Centre), Minister of Diversity, Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities Kamal Khera, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, Nollywood actors Uzee Usman and Titi Kuti, celebrity journalist Adeniyi Ifetayo, and Ambassador Martins Acha. The Prime Minister engaged with each food vendor, learning about and appreciating Nigerian cuisine.
During the event, His Majesty OgiameAtuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, was honored with an Award for Excellence in Cultural Preservation, presented by Chuks Anyaduba and received on his behalf by Adeniyi Ifetayo. The Crossroads of Culture Festival, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, UNESCO, and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority, was sponsored by the City of Brampton, Brampton Economic Development, Skyewise Group, Sketchfinix, and Uchenna Mbunabo TV.
