Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has reiterated his administration’s commitment to better the lots of local government workers in the state.
He said his government is always thinking about the welfare of the workers.
The Governor spoke through Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Tony – Collins Nwabunwanne during the send forth party organized in honour of the retired Secretary, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Barr Stan Nwata, at the State Secretariat Complex of Nigeria Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Awka.
He commended the workers for their inputs and contributions to efforts of his administration towards improving the living conditions of people .
Acknowledging that without the workers his government wouldn’t have achieved much at the local government level, Soludo described the celebrant as a perfect gentleman with few words.
He recognized that the retired Secretary faced a lot of challenges while in active service, but was able to overcome them because of his undaunted commitment to his duty.
He thanked the organizers of the event, especially the Chairman, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Barrister Vin Ezeaka Awka, for what they are doing in the state to improve the welfare of the local government workers.
He urged the Anambra State workers at all levels,especially those at the grassroots level, to be committed and dedicated to duty by gong to work on time for holistic transformation of the state.
Also speaking , the member representing Anambra West Local Government Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly and the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government Matters, Chief Patrick Udoba, stated that what they are doing in the house were geared towards bettering the welfare of everybody in the state irrespective of status and not to witch hunt the people.
He assured the members of the Anambra State NULGE that the State House of Assembly is committed to working with them as far as they continued to be punctual to their duty posts and remain productive to take the state to another level.
In his speech, the Anambra State Chairman ,Local Government Service Commission, Awka, Barrister Ezeaka, thanked Governor Soludo for his unrelenting assistance to the Commission and promotion of the workers welfare , reminding the workers to working towards putting in their best for not only the unparalleled growth of the state,but the Commission as well.
He described the celebrant, Barrister Nwata ,as an astute administrator and thanked those who organized the event for deeming it feat to honour and appreciate him, calling for collective efforts to reposition the Commission in line with Governor Soludo’s development policy for the state.
The member three of the Commission, Professor Ngozi Ewiyim, in her remarks , described Barrister Nwata as a core administrator, noting that as a Professor of public administration in the University ,she did not understand the true practice of the course untill she joined the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission as a Commissioner.
Declaring the event opening earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and former Transition Committee Chairman for Awka South Local Government Area, Chief Leo Nwauba, said that they came to rejoice with the celebrant,whom he said had served the state and was alive to see his retirement days in good health.
He described the occasion as a moment every civil servant is praying for and advised those who are still in the service to always be humble in any situation the found themselves by treating everybody equally, bearing in mind their retirement days.
In a goodwill message, the former member for Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives,Abuja, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, said that he was part and parcel of the Anambra State Local Government System because it was the place he started his political journey in the state, describing the celebrant as a guru in crisis and peace management.
In his contribution, the Chairman Planning Committe of the event, Chief Victor Orji, lauded the unwavering contributions of Barrister Nwata in decongesting the backlog of promotion arrears of the Council workers over the years, pointing out that the celebrant was among those who placed the Commission where it is today .
Appreciating the celebrant, the Anambra State NULGE President Comrade Nicholas Aromeh,said that event marked a very positive signal for some of them who are still in service and thanked those who contributed in making the occasion a huge success, especially the Committee of friends of the benefactor.
In their separate speeches, the incumbent Secretary of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Comrade Austin Nwafor,a one time Secretary of the Commission, Comrade Onyedibiama Udokwu and the internal Auditor of Ayamelum Local Government Area, Comrade Chudi Orakwue, maintained that the event calls for thanksgiving,describing the celebrant as a man with fear of God.
They also described the Anambra State NULGE President, Comrade Aromeh as their own and called on members of the Union to always give him and his team all necessary support and advise in their quest to move the union to the next level.
Responding , the celebrant Barrister Nwata,said that he lacks words to appreciating those who made the event possible, stressing that all he had achieved all the years needed to give thanks to God.
The citation of the celebrant was read by the Public Relations Officer of NULGE in Anambra State, Comrade Nnamdi Nweke while cutting of the retirement cake,presentation of gifts by Committee of friends to celebrant and dancing by Barrister Nwata and his wife, Princess Ifeoma Nwata,among others, added glamour to the event.
