Director General, Anambra State Bureau For Public Procurement, Arc Okey Ezeobi has identified robust procurement system as the cardinal means through which the present administration is delivering dividends of democracy in the state.
Ezeobi, who stated this while speaking with newsmen shortly after the launch of “Solution Watch Newsletter” by APGA Youths at Hilton Leisure Hotels,Awka, said that the Bureau was committed to keeping up with its mandate which he described as critical and pivotal to the development of the state.
He said that improved public sector procurement system had enhanced good governance and practices to ensure probity, accountability and transparency.
He said, “One of the major reasons why we are achieving this is because of our procurement system.It is because of the prudence in the system which is as a result of proper procurement system.
“So, we are getting value for money in our products.That is why the mantra of this government is doing more with less.We have a very robust procurement system,where we get things at the best quality for the best possible price.
“That is just the secret behind what the government is doing in Anambra State.Everything goes through proper procurement.It means,it must be competitive,it must be the right quality and it must be fairly priced.”
According to Ezeobi, Gov Soludo is judiciously utilizing all funds accrued to the state and allocating scarce resources to priority areas.
He added that the Governor had demonstrated unequal commitment to moving the state forward using his innovations in governance to bring quality service delivery in all sectors of the economy.
He enumerated some aspects of Soludo’s achievements to include, free education policy, free medical care,massive road construction, construction of new Government House as well as youth empowerment and employment opportunities.
Commenting on “Anambra Patriots For Soludo”, Ezeobi said the initiative was conceived to use influencial Ndi Anambra to disseminate information about the state government down to the grassroots on monthly basis.
” The major aim of Anambra Patriots For Soludo is to push out information of what the government is doing on a monthly basis through public conversation/inter personal communication model”
Describing APGA as a mass movement, the DG noted that the party’s flag off ceremony for local government elections witnessed an unprecedented crowd enthusiastically getting involved in the party.
” We want a situation whereby we as APGA,as a major stakeholder,by the time we built Anambra state,we want to build people that will take over and sustain that Dubai- Taiwan mentality,concept by making the state a place of destination where people want to come,” he added.
