On Saturday, September 21st, 2024, the Honorable member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Prof. Lilian Oby Orogbu (Ada Di Ebube), was honoured as a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation. This prestigious recognition took place during the installation ceremony of Rtn. Nwabufo Nwankwo as the 41st President of the Rotary Club of Awka.
In his address, the outgoing President of the Rotary Club of Awka, Rtn. Chika Ibeneme, lauded Prof. Orogbu as an astute legislator who has consistently excelled in her legislative duties. He highlighted that her compassionate contributions align with the Rotary Foundation’s core commitments, which include: fighting disease; providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; saving mothers and children; supporting education; and protecting the environment, among others.
Prof. Orogbu expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the recognition, describing the award as a testament to the support and encouragement she has received. She emphasized that her legislative vision is centered on service to humanity, which resonates with the Rotary Foundation’s mission.
