Chidoka’s Resignation from PDP: A Bid to Succeed Soludo in APGA?

The recent resignation of Osita Chidoka from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has sparked intense speculation about his next move.

Chidoka, a former Minister of Aviation, had earlier left the PDP in 2017 to run for governor of Anambra State.

Sources close to the matter reveal that Chidoka’s move may be connected to the permutations surrounding the succession of Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

Insiders claim Soludo is keen on bringing Chidoka into the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) fold to groom him as a potential successor.

Chidoka’s Anambra Central Senatorial District is next in line to produce the governor after Soludo’s second term.

Additionally, stakeholders in the state believe it is time for a non-Catholic to occupy the governor’s seat, citing equity as the reason.

This development could work in Chidoka’s favour, given his political clout and experience.

Chidoka’s resignation letter emphasized his commitment to good governance, national unity, and evidence-based public service.

However, sources insist his ultimate goal may be to become the governor of Anambra State, with 2029 being the target year.

As the political landscape in Anambra State continues to evolve, one thing is clear: Osita Chidoka’s resignation from the PDP is more than just a casual move.
