Foremost philanthropist and business mogul, Mr Valentine Ozigbo has faulted Governor Chukwuma Soludo recently launched “Operation Udo Ga Achi”, security measure to checkmate rising wave of insecurity in the state.

Soludo, during the launch, had announced that the operation would come into effect at the end of January next year, a development many had frowned at.

Reacting to the development, Ozigbo faulted the time frame, wondering why the governor should wait till next year to tackle criminality when many had decided to stay away from the state this Christmas for fear of kidnappers and hoodlums.

Appreciating the governor’s attempt to recapture Anambra’s space from criminals Ozigbo, Labour Party’s governorship aspirant however described it as belated and indication that the governor was bereft of ideas and did not have good advisers.

His words, “How can the state be overrun by criminals for 33 months under his watch, with security worse under his administration than any other former regime, with many citizens either running away from the state or refusing to return for Christmas and the governor is waiting til next year to address the security situation?

“I expected the governor to have rolled out these measures within 100 days of his administration, or way earlier than now so that Ndi Anambra will enjoy a peaceful yuletide and tame businesses from fleeing Anambra State.

“Christmas means a lot to our people and it’s a period many return from far and near to reunite with loved ones. But they’re reluctant to do that now because of insecurity. We are already hearing about a sad case in Umunnachi of a family returning for the yuletulide that was gunned down.

“in Awka we hear of where a lecturer at Unizik was murdered, or are we talking of a retired Archbishop that was kidnapped in his local government that is yet to be released. The governor cannot claim not to know these but he’s decided to wait till after Christmas to do something.

“Many see his latest effort as playing politics, especially as you see him branding everything with words from his surname. It is a shame. It smacks of lack of compassion, not prioritizing well, improper planning, poor execution, as well as poor advice, if at all he listens to such.”

Ozigbo expressed fear that some of those who would brave to odds to return home may fall victim to the hoodlums while Soludo dithered over taking action

“For me, Soludo’s idea is pure politics, suspiciously timed to when he would declare for re-election and not borne out of love of Anambra lives. He should act more and talk less. I hope this won’t be another case of forcing people to ignore sit at home without a plan” Ozigbo concluded.
