An All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship aspirant in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has pledged to deploy his experience, contacts and capabilities towards addressing teething challenges faced by people if elected.
Ukachukwu made the promise when he met with the State Executive Council of the party at the Party’s Secretariat in Awka, to declare his intention to run for the Anambra 2025 Governorship Election.
Ukachukwu, a business mogul and philanthropist, also during the visit, met with the 21 Local Government Party Chairmen of the party, sharing insight on his vision for the transformation of the state.
Addressing the party faithful, Ukachukwu, who chronicled his political journey in the state and beyond, said he is a committed party man and believes in honouring agreements, which has helped him in his political career.
Her maintained that he is not interested in destabilizing the existing structure within the party, but will align his various support groups to work with the existing structure, to firm the roots of the party in the state.
According to him, if elected, his government will integrate the party leadership into the constitution of his cabinet.
“I believe many people at the APC helm in the state are my people and they can vouch for my personality. I don’t betray relationships. The people I worked with can attest to it.
“I am bringing capacity, equity and fairness into APC. I’m tired of the political games played in this state. Many of us, if we don’t get it right this time, we will retire,” he said.
Ukachukwu, while pledging his commitment to supporting the APC to win the state, noted that the aspirants under the party are men of proven integrity, promising that he will work with any candidate that emerges as candidate of the party for them to win the main election.
He however urged the party members to consider his capacity and vision and lend him support, saying he wants to start where the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah left off and complete the tenure of the Anambra South Senatorial zone.
According to him, four years is enough for him to make an indelible mark in the state governance.
“I want to do four years only. It took former Governor Chris Ngige only three years to make a lasting impact in the state, and if I get four years, I believe I will do great because from the beginning, I already have a plan on how to move from the get-go and do not learn on the job,” he said.
On the heightened insecurity in the state, the former member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Abuja Area Council said as a street general, he will bring street intelligence in addressing the insecurity challenges in the state.
Receiving Prince Ukachukwu and his entourage, the Anambra State APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike said the APC is willing to receive new persons into the party, assuring that they are committed to giving every member their due rights.
He insisted that the mission of the party is to get to the government house, warning any other aspirant without the capacity to win the election for the party to steer clear of the process.
Ejidike expressed appreciation to Prince Ukachukwu for his support to the party and promised that the present party leadership in the state is emphatic about carrying everyone along.
Some party stakeholders who spoke during the visit urged the party to think deeply and select the best candidate with the capacity to win the election for the party.
According to them, Prince Ukachukwu’s entrance into the party will boost the party’s chances of wrestling power from the ruling APGA in the state.
