Worried by the lingering Communal Clashes among the people of Egbeagu Eziagulu Aguleri and Umuoji Umuoba Anam Communities in Anambra East Local Government Area, Senator Dr Tony Nwoye (Anambra North Senator) and Hon Peter Udeogalanya Anekwe (Rep Member, Anambra East and West Federal Constituency) have sued for Peace among Brothers of Omanbala axis.

The lawmakers made the call after having a closed door meeting with the President-Generals, Political Leaders and other Prominent sons of the two communities.

Nwoye emphasized that living together of the two communities over the years was a divine arrangement by the Almighty God, urging the warring communities to cease fire henceforth by allowing the Community Leaders to wage in.

However, Senator Dr Tony Nwoye and Hon Peter Anekwe thanked the Traditional Rulers in Anambra East and West for their interventions so far, which have been able to calm the situation and also have prevented any form of retaliation or reprisal attack.

They urged the monarchs and the people of the communities to continue to cooperate together in restoring peace and harmony that the communities were known for.

“We therefore call on the Chairman of Anambra East Local Government and Government of Anambra State to put in greater efforts and in collaboration with relevant Federal Government Agencies to take immediate practical steps to ensure immediate restoration of lasting peace between the affected communities.

“We urge our people in the affected communities to please apply restraint, avoid all forms of violence, maintain peaceful coexistence and rest assured that we will do everything within our power and influence to ensure the restoration of lasting peace in the affected communities,” they said.

While sympathizing with the traditional rulers, Political leaders and the family members of the victims of the clash, especially those who lost their lives in the crisis, both lawmakers prayed God Almighty to grant the deceased eternal rest.

Meanwhile, stakeholders from the two Communities have issued a communique having a meeting with Senator Dr Tony Nwoye in his country home in the Presence of Hon Peter Udeogalanya Anekwe.

The Stakeholders after thorough deliberations, agreed that there will be immediate cease fire of all hostilities and destructive actions on both sides.

They acknowledged the loss of lives and properties and set up a committee to meet with the immediate families to seek compensation and provide support for them.

The Stakeholders pledged their commitment to finding lasting solutions to the crisis and promoting peace and harmony between Aguleri and Anam Communities.
