Traditional Ruler of Ikem Ivite in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, HRM Engr Simon Obidike, Eze-Ezu II, has praised Governor Charles Soludo for the giant achievement recorded already in the security of the state after the introduction of the Homeland Security Law.
The monarch, who gave the commendation during the inauguration of security committee by Ikem Ivite town union led by Chief Sunday Obinze, at the community’s civic center, noted that for a long time, things have not been going well in the state in the area of security; adding that God brought Governor Soludo to correct the anomaly and bridge the gap.
He said, “Insecurity has become a problem everywhere in Nigerian, with kidnapping and violent crimes occuring steadily in every nook and cranny of the country. This Homeland Security Law conceived by Governor Charles Soludo, is the best way to get things right.
“Since the law was signed, have you heard about the usual daily occurrence of kidnapping or armed robbery in the state? This is because, the Operation Udo Ga-Achi and Agunechemba have taken the bull by the horn.
“Before now, things were almost going out of hand; but the governor conceived the initiative and it is working. So, the governor is moving in the right direction, and everybody is happy.”
Igwe Obidike, a former Director of Engineering in the Federal Ministry of Special Duties, assured that Ikem Ivite will support the governor to ensure that the security initiative achieve its target objective.
“Here in my community, we’re making efforts to ensure that our people are provided with adequate security; because, a major purpose of any government is provision of security, law and order,” he added.
The traditional ruler, who is a former President General of Nando community in Anambra East LGA, also commended the newly elected Ikem Ivite town union executive led by Chief Sunday Obinze, for the steps it is currently taking in the fight against insecurity in the town, while assuring that he would give everything he has to help the town union succeed.
Igwe Obidike said, “Our new President General, Chief Sunday Obinze, is a popular choice of the people. Even before his election as PG, he showed himself as someone that loves his community.
“He has track record of good performance, and Ikem Ivite is thankful to God for giving us somebody who is ready and willing to serve the community. I was a former President General of Nando before Ikem Ivite is curved out as an autonomous community. With my experience, I will advice him to ensure that he succeeds.”
Speaking on quack native doctors, whose specialization is to prepare ‘Okite’ and other get-rich-quick charms for kidnappers and armed robbers, the monarch said that people of Ikem Ivite, and Nando in general are not known for evil charms, as every Nando person understands the consequences and repercussions of doing so.
“No true son or daughter of Nando or Ikem Ivite can prepare evil charm or talisman, because, he understands the after effects. Nando has what we call ‘Ajana.’ This deity prevents Nando person from commiting hieneous crimes like murder, poisoning a person, preparing charms for kidnappers and armed robbers, preparing charms with human parts, etc because, the repercussions come very quickly.
“If you read the history of Iguedo, she was a woman who had the gift of using herbs and roots to heal the sick and people possessed by evil spirits. This gift is transferred to people of Ikem Ivite and Nando generally for healing physical and spiritual sicknesses.
“Anybody who is dibia in Nando acquires this gift either from his father’s or mother’s linage as a gift of nature, and they use it positively to heal physical and spiritual sicknesses.
“Anybody in the community, who prepares okite and other charms for kidnappers is not a native of Nando or Ikem Ivite, and we cannot accommodate such person if fished out. Any average person from this town knows that the repercussion of preparing evil charms and talisman come very quickly,” he said.
