The origin of “Nurse Eliza” was when Queen Elizabeth was to visit Nigeria in 1956, People were scantily recruited and given basic training on nursing care to administer first aid services in anticipation of accidents that would occur because of crowd that were eager to see the Queen during the visit.
After the visit, the ad-hoc recruits carried on with nursing services without proper training.
