Missing Big Ben: 3 appear in Anambra court

Three persons were on Thursday arraigned in an Awka High Court of Anambra state over alleged missing of Vice-chairman of Dubai Estate, Awka, Mr. Benjamin Ezenma, popularly known as “Big Ben”.

Those arraigned before Justice Ike Ogu, Administrative Judge, Awka Judicial Division on charges bothering on conspiracy and kidnapping of Big Ben were Ozo Jeff Nweke, Messrs Tochukwu Nwokoye and David Chukwuemeka Chinonso.

In the suit marked: AWK/6C/2025 and read in the Court the three defendants who were present in Court were accused of conspiring and kidnapping Benjamin Ezenma, within the Court’s jurisdiction on November 12, 2024.

The defendants however, pleaded not guilty to the two count charges.

The Court adjourned further proceedings on the matter following application by counsel for the 1st defendant (Ozo Jeff Nweke), Alex Ejesieme, which the prosecution counsel, Mrs P. N. Ofoma prayed the Court to give her time to file appropriate reply.

In his ruling, Justice Ike Ogu ordered that two of the defendants be allowed to return home, while Tochukwu Nwokoye was remanded in custody.

The matter has been adjourned till March 7, 2025.
