There was tension in Awka-Etiti Community in Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, on Saturday morning February 22, 2025, when a businessman aged about 35 years ran mad at the Eke Awka-Etiti Marketplace and stated making provoking but ear twitching confession in front of his shop.

The man, identified as Friday, a native of Ogunzelu, Awka-Etiti, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was said to have behaved strangely on Saturday morning and removed his clothes to the surprise of his neighbors and other traders who were arriving the marketplace for business before he started his confession.

While confessing, he said he was responsible for the death of a popular trader in the market identified as Samson Ileka, a pharmacist and owner of Sam Medical Shop and Provision Store behind his shop who, according to sources, died Thursday night and was buried Friday in his hometown, Ichida, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Sources said Friday allegedly confessed also that he had sent many children, women and other businessmen in Awka-Etiti and other parts of the state to their early grave.

The confession was said to have ignited furious reactions from irate traders, parents of victims and onlookers who stormed the market place to lynch the suspect.

When our correspondent reached Eke Awka Etiti Market, the police and the Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG) was bundling the suspect into the police vehicle to take him away.

His shop situated at the market place was shut, two chest freezers, carcass of a bird believed to be remains of a chicken he was said to have used to clean his body when nemesis visited him among other things littered the front of the shop.

Ileka’s shop was also seen shut while onlookers and traders stood in groups discussing the issue.
