A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chinedu Obigwe, has revealed that Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, supported Rev Father Ebube Muonso financially with a ₦100 million cheque for a road project in his village.
Obigwe made the revelation on Monday in a press statement, contradicting Ebube Muonso’s claims that the Governor does not pick his calls.
This revelation comes amidst attempts by Ebube Muonso’s supporters to create a false narrative that Governor Soludo is at war with the Catholic Church.
Obigwe described Ebube Muonso as a “small priest” who is not a leader in the Onitsha Catholic diocese to make such assertions.
He accused Ebube Muonso of using propagandists to spread false information against Governor Soludo, allegedly sponsored by disgruntled opposition elements.
“The political Priest called Ebube Muonso is labouring in vain to use his propagandists to create the wrong impression that Governor Soludo is fighting the Catholic Church, but that is far from the truth,” Obigwe said.
Ebube Muonso had previously launched a politically motivated attack against Governor Soludo, prompting Archbishop Valerian Okeke to compel him to issue a written apology, Obigwe alleged.
Obigwe urged the public to disregard Ebube Muonso’s claims, stating that Governor Soludo is a devout Catholic who has delivered dividends of good governance to the people of Anambra.
“Governor Soludo is a devoted Catholic that does not have any problem with the leadership of the Church,” Obigwe said, adding, “The general public should disregard Ebube Muonso’s paid propagandists’ claim that Governor Soludo is fighting the Catholic Church because it’s a fabricated tissue of lies.”
