Governorship aspirant of the Labour Party (LP) for the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Chief Dr George Moghalu has urged party faithful to have November 8 in mind while chosing its candidate on April 5 slated for the primary.

He said unseating an incumbent governor, such as Governor Chukwuma Soludo required an experienced and dogged politician like himself, who has whatever it takes to wrestle power from the incumbent.

Moghalu stated this while receiving rousing welcome from stakeholders and executive members of the Labour Party in Ogbaru, Onitsha North and Onitsha South local government areas, where he visited to solicit for support ahead of the April 5, 2025 primary election of the party.

In Odekpe, Ogbaru LGA, the local government chairman of the party, Hon. Emeka Nwosu, led stakeholders of the party, local government executive members, as well as executive members of the party in the 16 political wards in Ogbaru to receive Moghalu and his team.

“We must have November 8 governorship election in mind while chosing our candidate on April 5 because unseating an incumbent governor like Soludo, requires an experienced and dogged politician like me who has whatever it takes to wrestle power from the incumbent.”

Moghalu, a notable figure in Nigerian politics, and the immediate past Managing Director/Chief Executive of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) solicited the partnership of critical stakeholders in Ogbaru towards reclaiming the Agu Awka government house from the incumbent, which he said, has failed in delivering his campaign promises to the people.

He added that Ogbaru has enormous potentials in agriculture, and that if elected, his government would harness the portentials, and make the area an agricultural hub, for the benefit of the Ogbaru people and Anambra state in general.

A stakeholder in the area, Ben Ogochukwu Nwasike, assured Moghalu of the support of LP members in Ogbaru; and urged him to also reach out to leaders of the party in Ogbaru in particular, and Anambra North in general; stating that support of LP stakeholders will be critical in achieving his aspiration.

Earlier, Chairman of the party in Ogbaru, Chief Emeka Nwosu, said that Moghalu has whatever it takes to win governorship election, and that LP in Ogbaru will play its own role by supporting him during the primary election.

In Onitsha, LP chairman of Onitsha North local government, Chief Obiora Okolonji, led teeming stakeholders, local government executive and party officers of the 15 wards in the area to welcome Dr. Moghalu.

Moghalu, while speaking to party faithful, described Onitsha North as a very critical area in the politics of the state, and said that he would not take the area for granted.

He urged Onitsha North to partner him in the quest and efforts to occupy the Anambra government house.

“Haven worked in both private and public sectors for many years; I’ve gathered requisite experiences that I can beat my chest to say that I have whatever it takes to win the November 8 governorship election for the party, if given the ticket.

“All I need is for you to place your confidence in me, and work with me to win the primary election; then, the governorship election of November 8. I cannot do it alone – I want us to approach this election as a team,” he appealed.

Organizing Secretary of the party in the local government area, Dr. Charles Ekeke, recalled that during the 2023 general election, Onitsha North delivered LP at the senatorial level, House of Representatives and state assembly; and added that the council area would still replicate the feat in the governorship election of November 8.

Chairman of the party in Onitsha North, Chief Okolonji, said that LP in the area will not disappoint Moghalu, since he found it necessary to consult stakeholders of the area ahead of April 5 primaries.

Moghalu also visited Onitsha South, where chairman of LP in the council area, Hon. Ndubueze Nwoke, with other critical stakeholders, hosted him and his team in Fegge.

He further took the same message of appeal for partnership to the people. He told party faithful in the area that what he needed was people to work with him; not people that will work for him.

He said, “If I needed people to work for me, I would go to Ochanja and get enough jobbers for that purpose. But that is not what I want. I want to establish a sustainable partnership with you where you’ll contribute your own part, and I will do my part for the success of the election; so that at the end, when things work well, all of us will become stakeholders in the government business.”

Stakeholders and party faithful took turns to commend Moghalu for his past antecedents, and what he has promised to offer the party and the state if elected governor. They assured him of their readiness to support his governorship bid; while urging him to fulfill his campaign promises when elected governor.
