The Ikemba Front, an All Progressive Congress (APC) support group in Anambra State has commended the State Working Committee (SWC) and other stakeholders for the peaceful and credible conduct of the ward delegates’ Congress to elect ad-hoc delegates across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The group noted that the exercise which was in preparation for the gubernatorial primary election holding on April 5, 2025 is considered as the most peaceful and rancour-free in the history of delegate elections of the party in the state.

National Coordinator of the group, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu in a statement also hailed the National Working Committee of the party for ensuring a free and fair ward delegate election.

He commended the party executive under the leadership of Sir Basil Ejidike, for ensuring unity among members of the party in the state, urging the party executive not to relent in building the party in the state while pledging the total commitment and loyalty of his group, Ikemba Front to the party.

The statement reads in part:“This is a sign of hope for the party ahead of the gubernatorial primary election. The process was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and various civil society groups and was adjudged to be peaceful and credible across the state.”

Awogu appealed to party leaders in the state to join hands with the party leadership and toe the path of peace and unity for the party to displace the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

He said the APGA in the state has shown its inability to govern the state, saying this is evident with the level of insecurity in the State, underdevelopment and lack of social infrastructure and cohesion in the state.

Awogu, a former Ogbaru Local Government Council Chairman also urged the National Working Committee of the party to ensure that the names as produced from the 326 wards were not tampered with as doing that would irretrievably rupture the peaceful mood of the party in the state arising from the just concluded ward delegates’ election.

The APC has picked April 5 for the primary election of the party, while seven aspirants have obtained the nomination forms to contest for the gubernatorial primary .

The aspirants include; Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Sir Paul Chukwuma, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo, Mr. Edozie Madu and Mr. Valentine Ozigbo.
