Osisioma foundation offered free treatments to many patients, especially the elderly and the vulnerable in umunya in line with the vision of the foundation which is to better lives.
The medical Team offered medicated glasses and Drugs to the patients, while various tests were carried out before issuing drugs to the beneficiaries.
In his address, during the flag-off of the exercise at umunya Town Hall, the commissioner for local Government, chieftaincy and Town union matters, Hon chief Collins Nwabunwanne described the President of osisioma foundation, Dr chike obidigbo as a humanitarian who has touched the lives of many especially the widows and the less privileged in the society. Hon Nwabunwanne who ldentified himself as a member of the founder adding that he came to celebrate the great man and to express gratitude to God for keeping and sustaining Dr obidigbo.
According to the commissioner,who noted that the state Governor professor Chukwuma Soludo is committed to the sustainance of peace and tranquility in all Communities in Anambra state, while calling on Communities to elect leaders with vision and capacity in the class of the president- General of umunya Development Union, chief chinedu Ekwugha whom he said has track records of achievements.
In an interview, the President of osisioma foundation, Dr chike obidigbo, said he is committed to rendering selfless Service to humanity as he has never embarked on any venture for selfish reasons, according to him, the free medical programme of the foundation is for humanitarian purposes.
Adding that the foundation regularly provide funds for the sustainance of the Elderly and people who cannot take care of themselves, stressing that as a foundation, the youths are being encouraged to engage in activities that will help reduce unemployment and criminality while expressing regret that the government is not doing enough to assist young people.
He said the medical mission is the first of it’s kind and will be sustained to benefit other Communities since the foundation exists in all parts of Anambra state and beyond.
On the forthcoming Anambra state governorship Election Dr obidigbo said the people of the state are prayerful and God in his infinite mercy will help raise somebody that will achieve the best for the people if the need arises.
In his address, the mayor oyi local government area Honourable Dr Emma nweke represented by the chief of staff senior Apostle chijioke ozoemena noted that he was impress with the attention and priority given to health by the osisioma foundation stressing that without good health life can never be meaningful, according to him the the state governor professor Chukwuma Soludo has turned around the health sector making it condusive for the people of the state.
He called on well meaning individuals to emulate the osisioma foundation intiative, while asking God to bless the founder Dr obidigbo.
The oyi council chairman commended the President- general of umunya Development Union Chief chiedu Ekwugha for providing a befitting place for ojiana people and the Teaching Hospital perimeter fencing project.
In his speech the president-general Umunya Development Union, chief chinedu Ekwugha described the day as a special one for the community, while appealing to Dr obidigbo to make the medical mission an annual event, adding that the community has experienced rapid development in recent time due to the contributions of well meaning umunya people. He said that God will continue to bless Dr obidigbo with good health to enable him to serve Umunya Community.
Also speaking the Director- general osisioma foundation sir Ralph nwike said there is nothing one can do as a leader without touching lives adding that he will continue to identify with the vision of osisioma foundation which is to better lives, stating that the foundation is a global organization with more than seven thousand members with structures throughout the entire state, adding that the foundation is building a system that will make things work better for the citizenry.
Two patients, who spoke during the exercise Mrs Rose nweke and mr onwuzume nwafor expressed satisfaction with the attention given to them by the medical team.
Some of the prominent personalities present during the programme were Chief Tony Edochie,Dr Ben obidigbo,pastor Nick ibeh, Mrs Adaeze obieze andEmma obidigbo among others.
Highlights of the event were the Flag- off of the osisioma foundation free medical programme by the commissioner for local Government, chieftaincy and Town union matters,Hon chief Nwabunwanne. Awards were presented to the management of umunya Community Bank, the management of Hardis and Dromedas, Umunya Development union,Nonyez ventures and Astranad pharmaceuticals, they were all partners in the medical outreach.
