Fadaella Foods Ltd., makers of Fadaella Oatmilk Biscuit, has celebrated Joshua Beckford, the Nigerian-born child prodigy who made history by becoming the youngest person to attend Oxford University at just six years old.

Joshua Beckford, now around 13 years old, is a talented Nigerian whose story is a source of inspiration to every Nigerian child. By 10 months old, Beckford could identify letters and numbers. At age two and a half, he could read fluently using phonics and had begun learning Japanese and Mandarin. Aspiring to become a neurosurgeon, Beckford has demonstrated remarkable medical knowledge, mastering complex surgical procedures using the Microsoft Surgery Simulator.

Beyond medicine, Beckford is multi-talented, excelling in art, Information Technology (IT), sports, and foreign languages. In 2017, he was named Positive Role Model of the Year at the UK’s National Diversity Awards. The Illumination Foundation of North Carolina also listed him among the Top 30 Most Extraordinary People worldwide who have made a societal impact.

Beckford serves as an ambassador for the Boys Mentoring Advocacy Network (BMAN), a non-governmental organization dedicated to mentoring young boys and adolescents in Africa. He also serves as the face of the National Autistic Society’s Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) campaign, having been diagnosed with high-functioning autism himself.

In 2019, Beckford and his father traveled to Nigeria to launch a live mentoring session, delivering a keynote speech at the University of Lagos before an audience of nearly 5,000 people. Their visit aimed to raise funds for building a secondary school in Kaduna State, providing education to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

On why the company celebrated Joshua Beckford, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu, CEO of Fadaella Foods Ltd., stated that the company celebrates young Nigerian prodigies to motivate and inspire other children and showcase the country’s talent. “Celebrating our talented young people reflects our company’s corporate social responsibility and brand values, which focus on empowering young people and nurturing future leaders and innovators,” he said.

Mr. Igboaka further reiterated that the company is working on developing online and offline programs where these talented Nigerians will have the opportunity to inspire fellow young people.

Last year, during the International Day for Achievers, the company celebrated five young exceptional Nigerians for their accomplishments at a very young age. They include Ifebube Benson, Joshua Agbola, Nkechinyere Umeh, Hawawu Mustapha, and Stephanie Onusiriuka. The company donated cash prizes and laptops to some of them.
