The gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has said that Iyom Bianca Ojukwu’s ministerial appointment was not the making of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
Ukachukwu who was reacting to questions raised by journalists during an interactive session with them in Awka, Anambra State also said that the appointment of the Mark Okoye as the Managing Director of South East Development Commission was based on certain consideration.
He said the facts remained that Iyom Ojukwu was not appointed by the recommendations of APGA but based on peculiar circumstances, stressing that after all, she has never featured in any APGA campaign.
“APGA has flagged off its campaigns in different parts of the State but she did not participate which is a clear indication that her appointment has nothing with APGA.But that not withstanding, even if she is a member of APGA, one thing that matters is that the Ministerial position given to her, has no connection with her APGA affiliation” Ukachukwu said.
He also stated that Okoye was appointed as DG based on certain considerations and circumstances, saying that it has nothing do with APGA and would not affect his electoral chances in anyway.
“That notwithstanding, I am not bothered about who is there or not because some of them have contested election with me, primary election and I beat them. So, I am not actually bothered about them. When we reach the bridge, we will cross. It is Anambra people who will decide, not any particular person. And if you can move around the streets, you will know that Anambra is saying they are tired of this administration. And nothing can change it” Ukachukwu said.
He unequivocally stated that local security operatives would not participate in November governorship election in the State.
He dismissed the notion that the current leadership of the state would use the State vigilant operatives to dislodge APC during the election, asserting that whatever plans they wanted to use Aguna-echemba, Udo-gachi and Ndi-akaodo to achieve during the governorship election on November 8 would not work.
Prince Ukachukwu stressed that he was not unmindful of whatever game the present State Government might come up with, by trying to lower the election standard, saying that what is certain is that vigilant outfit would not participate during the election.
He cited recent election in Ondo State which he said Amotekun security outfit of the state was disbanded during the election in the area, contending that if election would be conducted in Anambra State, it would not be exceptional..
“So, in the coming election in Anambra, whether Agunechemba, Udogachi or Ndi-akaodo would not participate because the law stipulated that they would not.
“Therefore, whatever they want to achieve can no longer materialize” Ukachukwu stated, stressing:
“Don’t forget that one with the majority always have the day and the voice of the people is the voice of God. If Anambra people want a change, no Udogachi, no Agunechemba, no Ndi-akaodo can stop the people to vote. Anambra is saying no for what is going on now and nobody can stop them from exercising their rights”.
