Anambra 2025: Anglican Diocese Denies Endorsing Any Governorship Candidate.

The Diocese of Aguata, Anglican Communion, has firmly denied endorsing any gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming November 8 election in Anambra State.

In a statement released on Friday and signed by the Director of Media and Communications of the Diocese, Mr. Abuchi Nwozor, the Church described as false and misleading a series of photographs circulating on social media which claim that the Diocese under the episcopacy of the Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor has endorsed a particular candidate.

The Diocese urged the public to disregard the images, describing them as a deliberate attempt to drag the Church into partisan politics.

The statement emphasized that the Aguata Diocese has not, and will not, align itself with any political party or candidate.

“What the Diocese of Aguata earnestly desires is a free, fair, and credible election,” the statement said.

The statement further added that the Church is continually praying for peace and transparency in the electoral process.

The statement also issued a stern warning to politicians, cautioning them against desperation for power.

It advised aspirants to focus on public interest and the well-being of the masses, rather than engaging in manipulative tactics.

Also in a joint declaration signed by both Mr. Abuchi Nwozor and the Clerical Synod Secretary of the Diocese, Reverend Canon Uzochukwu Mojekwu, the Church called on political actors to refrain from using the Church as a platform to score political points.

“The Church is a sacred place where spiritual authority is sought through prayers not a venue for political campaigns,” the statement added
