According to Mefor, the approval was issued during the 23rd ANSEC meeting held at the Light House, Awka, on November 17, 2025.

He stated: “The Council approved the sum of N87,168,413.00 (eighty-seven million, one hundred and sixty-eight thousand, four hundred and thirteen naira) only, as the annual premium for the provision of an asset insurance policy/coverage for the Light House, Awka, under a long-term agreement of five (5) years in the first instance.”

The statement also indicated that during the meeting, the Council deliberated on several other issues, including plans for a memorable Christmas celebration, the condemnation of death rumours concerning former governor Chief Willie Obiano, and congratulations to the new Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Bond Anyaehie.

Mefor further announced the award of additional projects. These include the modification and completion of the abandoned court building and the renovation/upgrade of associated structures within the Court of Appeal Complex, Awka; the rehabilitation of failed portions of Court Road and Obunagu Road within the Awka Metropolis; and the supply and installation of fire-fighting equipment at the College of Nursing Sciences, Umueze-Isuofia, in Aguata LGA, among others
