It was a moment of joy, gratitude and thanksgiving as Pharm. (Sir) Chris Ukachukwu, Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and chairman, Rexton Industries Limited, gave out his first daughter, Chinelo, in holy matrimony to her heartthrob, Pharm. Chigozie Nwankwo, at the All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha, Anambra State, at the weekend.

Ukachukwu is the chairman of Rexton Industries Limited, an indigenous pharmaceutical and healthcare company with growing footprints in drug distribution and allied health products across parts of Nigeria, making him one of the notable players in the country’s evolving pharma landscape.

The solemn wedding ceremony was presided over by the Bishop of Niger East Diocese, Right Reverend Obiorah Uzochukwu, and witnessed by a large congregation of pharmacists, captains of industry, government officials, clergymen, family members and well-wishers drawn from different parts of the country.

Speaking at the event, Pharm. Ukachukwu described the occasion as one of the happiest moments of his life, noting that giving his daughter out in marriage filled him with profound gratitude to God.

He described marriage as a sacred institution ordained by God, and charged the couple to build their home on the fear of God, patience, mutual respect and unwavering love.

“Today is one of the happiest days of my life. Watching my first daughter take the same marital step I once took fills me with joy. Marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God. As professionals, you must balance your careers with raising a god-fearing family. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and it must guide your marriage journey,” he advised.

Also speaking, Chairman, Board of Fellows, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and Managing Director, PAX Pharmaceutical Limited, Pharm. Uchenna Akpakama, congratulated the couple, describing them as products of sound family values and godly upbringing.

“Marriage goes beyond the excitement of courtship. It requires humility, tolerance and constant dependence on God. I pray that God blesses your union with peace, fruitfulness and prosperity,” he said.

In an interview, the newly-wedded couple, Pharm. Chigozie and Mrs Chinelo Nwankwo, expressed deep gratitude to God and appreciation to their parents, friends and colleagues for standing by them.

“I am happy that I am marrying the man I love. We have known each other for two years, and it has been a beautiful journey. He is calm, forgiving and very accommodating,” the bride said.

Narrating how their love story began, the groom disclosed that they met at PAX Pharmacy, where Chinelo had gone to purchase some items, while he was making supplies.

“We exchanged contacts that day, and that was the beginning of our story. I thank God for bringing us together and I appreciate everyone who made this day memorable,” he said.

The wedding, which attracted a large turnout of members of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and other professional bodies, was followed by a colourful reception at the CJ Patterson Auditorium, Main Bowl, All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha, where friends, colleagues and well-wishers showered the couple with prayers and goodwill messages.

The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for Pharm. Nwankwo and Mrs Chinelo Nwankwo, built on faith, love and professional excellence.
