The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Anambra State Branch, has commended ACP Chidi Nzota, Onitsha Police Area Commander, for his outstanding handling of protests over the closure of Onitsha Main Market.
In a statement signed by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, Chairman of CLO Anambra State Branch, and Comrade Chidi Mbah, Secretary, the organization praised ACP Nzota for demonstrating “unprecedented professionalism, intelligence, wisdom, and tactfulness” in managing the situation.
The statement noted that ACP Nzota’s approach, which involved accompanying protesters and using a combination of persuasion and firmness, earned him the respect and admiration of the citizens.
His presence was described as “fatherly” and contributed significantly to the peaceful nature of the protest.
The CLO also appealed to other officers of the Nigeria Police Force to emulate ACP Nzota’s example, and urged the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission to consider promoting him in recognition of his selfless service.
The organization has also recommended ACP Nzota for a special meritorious award from the Anambra State Government.
