The Special Adviser to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on Community Policing, Prince Ken Emeakayi, has urged traders in Anambra State to disregard the proposed sit-at-home order and total business lockdown scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, allegedly promoted by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Prince Emeakayi described the call as misguided and driven by selfish interests, noting that those propagating such actions often continue their own businesses uninterrupted while encouraging others to shut down theirs.

He called on traders and residents to remain calm and law-abiding, reassuring them of the state government’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives, property, and lawful economic activities across Anambra State.

The security chief emphasized that Governor Soludo has put in place a robust and proactive security framework, urging traders to have confidence in the state’s internal security architecture and to resume full market activities on Mondays without fear.

According to him, the widespread perception that the government lacks a concrete plan to secure traders on Mondays is false and misleading.

He disclosed that Agunechemba, working closely with the Nigeria Police Force and other federal security agencies, has finalized comprehensive operational plans to guarantee adequate security throughout the state.

In a press release made available to newsmen in Awka, the Media and Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba, Mr. Nweke Nweke, stated that, following directives from Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo through the Office of the Special Adviser on Security, new intelligence-driven measures and enhanced patrol strategies have been deployed to neutralize potential threats in markets and commercial hubs on Mondays.

Reacting further to the call for a complete lockdown, Prince Emeakayi reiterated that citizens should ignore such directives from non-state actors, stressing that those promoting them do not have the welfare of Ndi Anambra at heart.

Fondly known as Ohamadike, the security adviser assured traders and customers that Agunechemba personnel will be fully deployed and operational during this critical period, guaranteeing safety across markets and major business districts in the state.

He also issued a stern warning to parents and guardians, urging them to dissuade their children from being used as instruments of disruption or violence. He cautioned that anyone who allows or encourages their child to participate in acts capable of destabilizing the state would face serious legal consequences.

“I encourage traders in Anambra State to comply with the governor’s executive directive by coming out en masse on Mondays to carry out their legitimate businesses. In terms of security, I assure you that the state government’s recent acquisition of modern security equipment for Agunechemba is specifically aimed at protecting lives and property,”

“Anyone calling you from the comfort of their secured business environment to persuade you to shut down your own business—regardless of the name they operate under—is not only working against you but is also a direct threat to your future and livelihood. Such non-state actors have never prioritized the collective interest of Ndi Anambra and should be firmly disregarded.”he said.

Prince Emeakayi expressed optimism that traders would cooperate with Agunechemba operatives and other security agencies to ensure a peaceful, secure, and economically vibrant Anambra State.
