Nigerians have reacted positively to a post by Anambra billionaire, Ifeanyi Obike, Chairman, Obike Group, owners of Obike Air. According to Ifeanyi Obike, the Airline which is set to begin operation will base and operate from Anambra to other parts of the country.

Ifeanyi Obike, in the post on LinkedIn, noted that the decision was taken by the Group Board. “It is the Board Resolution.”

Reacting to the post, one George E, said “this is a great idea. Obike Air operation base in Anambra is the only way to accelerate and jumpstart commercial and International markets accessibility in South East Nigeria. The other requirement is to open up the seaport at Calabar and Onne Container Terminal. Afterwards, the south east should start diversifying their commercial investments to the southeast economic free trade zones. This is the only way to bring substantial economic development and progress to southeast Nigeria.”

To Abimbola Adediran, “what a brilliant idea. Industrialisation should go round. There are huge potentials and markets in the east. So it is a very good idea.”

“Yes, Lagos is saturated . Developments should happen elsewhere so the urban drift will reduce,” said Dolapo Onayemi.

Yvonne Ebbi said “why not? Let us spread development to other parts of the country and decentralise the imbalance attraction to Lagos State.”

“This is a step in the right direction. Afterall, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing and Tiger Foods are currently serving the nation from their Nnewi and Onitsha headquarters,” Uchenna Nwafor noted.

According to Enole Chidi, “this decision is apt. This is one of the strategies to decongest Lagos, and initiate support for regional economic development. Nigeria needs radical re-engineering of the economic pillars to be able to grow, stabilise and sustain.”
