Soludo Targets 24-hr Power Supply In Anambra

The Anambra State Commissioner for Industry Hon CC Udechukwu on Tuesday announced the state government’s preparedness to provide 24 hour electricity to energize industries and other end users in the state, ANAMBRAPEOPLE reports.

The commissioner disclosed this during a press briefing on the forthcoming MADE IN ANAMBRA INDUSTRIAL EXPO which was held at the SSG conference hall government house Awka on Tuesday.

Hon Udechukwu stated that the state is endowed with massive human and material resources needed to raise industries for a Smart Mega City, noting that government has taken inventory of companies lined up to generate, transmit and distribute electricity in line with the Fifth Alteration Bill No. 33.

He reinstated the state government’s commitment to revive ailing industries by repackaging and strengthening their capacity to meet the export requirements to supply estimated 54 African countries competitively.

Hon Udechukwu however urged companies interested in export development to key into the initiative by working towards having their MADE IN ANAMBRA products displayed at the International Conference Center ICC Awka between the 3rd and 4th of October 2023.

He also gave assurances that patronage for Anambra made products shall be prioritized and prepared for the capital market, adding that government has mapped out new industrial clusters, export processing zones, free trade zones and targeting industrial cities.

Speaking at the event, the Chairperson Manufacturers Association of Nigeria MAN, Mrs Ada Chukwudozie commended the genuine efforts towards strengthening the capacity of Anambra households as well as the manufacturing sector.

According to her, the coconut and palm seedlings being distributed would certainly meet the household needs for self-sufficiency and serve as an incubator for cottage industries. Like wise she applauded the support for manufacturers who embark on export promotion.

She enjoined the MAN members to work towards improving their competitiveness so that goods produced can meet global standards, adding that Anambrarians in diaspora could actually create a global trade route to facilitate African continental trade. A unified market where goods, services, capital and people can move freely without regard to national boundaries.

Interestingly, representatives of the organized private sector comprising of the MAN members group, NACCIMA, and financial institutions present at the meeting requested for a partnership arrangement that would give them a sense of belonging in the industrial expo to enable them participate fully and productively.

The pre-launch was well attended by the State Commissioner for Information; Sir Paul Nwosu, the Chairperson of the Southeast Manufacturers Association of Nigeria -MAN; Lady Ada Chukwudozie (Adadioranma), President of Anambra Chambers of Commerce and National Vice President of NACCIMA, Pharmacist Uche Apakama, Presidents of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

CEOs of industry leaders, namely the Ibeto Group, Cutix Plc, Dozzy Group, and others were present, including representatives from leading banks and Anambra State Coordinators of, NAFDAC, SMEDAN, Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), National Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Nigeria Export Promotion Council.
