AWKA- The state police commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, in a statement issued to journalists on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, described the people sharing the video as “enemies of the people”.

The police in Anambra, southeast Nigeria, have dismissed a viral video showing the burning of a commercial bus at Nanka and the killing of soldiers in the Umunze area of the state, saying that both incidents happened in 2022.

The state police commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, in a statement issued to journalists on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, described the people sharing the video as “enemies of the people”.

According to him, those sharing the video want to purposely instil fear and create panic in the state.

“The Commissioner of Police who described the antic of recycling such old video clips as vile propaganda has warned purveyors of false alarm who seek to create fear in the mind of the public that they will be brought to book.

“He wishes to re-assure Ndi Anambra that the Police and sister security agencies will always go the extra mile to secure them against agents of darkness that do not mean well for them or for the Nation.”

“He called on Ndi Anambra to disregard the videos and not help enemies of progress to share them,” the statement added.
