A third year student of English at University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) by name Nnuta Josephine Ujunwa has emerged the winner Ada Ogidi beauty pageant held at Ogidi in Anambra State. Ujunwa defeated other contestants to take the crown leaving behind Okoye Mmesoma Edith to second position and Worship Ifunanya Strongson to third positions respectively. The winner alongside the second and third contestants smiled home with cash prices of N500k, N300k and N100k respectively.
Speaking on the contest in his address, the founder who doubles as the MD Leophine Residency Hotel and MD Ebonadi FM Ogidi expressed joy that the beauty contest is growing from strength to strength with the support of the good people of Ogidi most notably the Royal support from the traditional ruler of Ogidi HRM Igwe Alex Onyido (Ezechuamagha) who inspires the contest with Royal blessings.
According to the MD “when we started this contest in 2016 as means of supporting the development and growth of the girl child in Ogid, it was like a Lone Ranger crying in the wilderness but today we have made tremendous progress courtesy of the support of our people who have consistently queued behind us in partnership and sponsorship, that’s why we have been able to continue to stage the contest uninterrupted since 2016”
While appreciating the Royal blessings from the palace of Ezechuamagha and the consistent efforts of the partners and sponsors in ensuring the success and growth of the Beaty Pageant exercise, the MD appealed for more support from well meaning people of Ogidi to join hands with organizers and contribute their own quota no matter how small toward the development and progress of the girl child in Ogidi
As usual notable personalities witnessed the contest. Among them include High chief Ikem Nwabueze (Agunecheibe of Ogidi) High chief Chris Onwudiwe (Ezeafulukwe), Chief Chris Nwangwu (Ezendigbo na Holland), Mr Ikeji Nwankwo Oranugo (Ike Ogidi Canada) the Representative of Igbo Community in Angola Mr Chuma Ofedu (Sosoliso) and the youth leader of Ogidi Mr Chris Obi Okafor among others
Speaking to our corespondent, the personalities in separate interviews hailed the founder describing his vision as a welcome development that has not just made a wonderful impact on the girl child in Ogidi but will continue to make such impact so long as the Beaty Pageant exercise is staged annually.
Speakers after speaker spoke in the same tone this way “The founder of this Beaty Pageant deserve our commendation because it is making a wonderful impact on our girls most particularly giving a sense of belonging to the community and also putting something in their pocket to boost their education and well being. I am highly impressed and I will continue to support the exercise”
