Soludo Targets N4bn monthly revenue increase

Anambra state government Tuesday expressed optimism towards increasing its monthly revenue generation to N4bn by formalising the informal sectors into taxations.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AiRS), Dr Greg Ezeilo, stated this at a-one day taxpayers education and enlightenment programme held at Awka, the Anambra state capital under the theme, formalising the informal sector: the economic benefits.

Ezeilo stated that the objectives of the programme was to provide knowledge of taxations to all the citizenry, thanked the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) for the partnership which he said would be profitable to the informal sector, especially the motorists, petty traders, freelancers and others.

On his part, the national president and chairman of Council, CITN, Mr Samuel Agbeluyi, argued that most informal sectors need to be formalised and bring into the tax nets for their survival and overall benefits of the citizenry.

Agbeluyi, represented by the Vice President of CITN, Mr Innocent Ohagwa, described taxations as statutory obligations required from all the citizens so as to enable the government provide basic amenities and other key functions to the citizenry.
