Nnobi Community in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State faces turmoil as tensions rise over the Ikemba title tussle.
The Peace Committee’s conflicting reports have sparked mixed reactions among residents.
Mr. Ifeanyi Okoye, commenting on the dispute between Jerry Ugokwe and Hamilton Ezeonu, stated that the circulating report contradicts the Committee’s original findings.
He emphasized that the Committee is not directly concerned about the issue of Ikemba’s coronation by two different Igwes.
Okoye expressed frustration over accusations of complicity, urging residents to disregard the alleged doctored report published on April 2, 2024. He claimed there is an attempt to adopt this false report in the next Peace Committee meeting, which he declared null and void.
He revealed that he initially proposed reconciliation between the two brothers, making him the sole voice in favour of it.
Okoye, however, denied involvement in any closed-door agreements that altered the Peace Committee’s report.
He called on Mr. Ifeanyi Ezeadum to clarify which of the two reports is genuine, helping the community understand the truth. Okoye also recounted efforts to mediate between Ugokwe and Ezeonu, proposing they retain their separate titles.
Okoye urged the Ebenesi community to review both reports, asserting that the only legitimate one is on the Peace Committee’s platform. He demanded immediate clarification from the Committee’s Secretary, Mr. Ifeanyi Ezeadum
A comprehensive report on the discord and the alleged doctored report will be released once the Peace Committee concludes its meeting today.
