Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has urged personnel in Anambra state to recommit themselves to their duty as well as abide by laid down rules guiding their operations.

Zonal Commanding Officer, RS5 Headquarters, Benin, Assistant Corps Marshal Nkechi Orakwue gave the advice during a familiarization visit to Anambra Sector Command Headquarters in Awka, which is under her Zone.

She urged the personnel to shun “patrol misconducts” as they guard their lives and jobs jealously.

She explained that ensuring safety on roads remained the responsibility of relevant stakeholders, including the government and the motoring public.

She said, “You are aware that our Corps Marshal has zero tolerance for road crashes. Therefore all hands must be on deck in ensuring safety of all forms of road users.

“Aggressive and consistent public enlightenment on proper use of the highways has been helpful in educating the public on the need for safety on roads.”

While commending successive Anambra Governments for various supports to the State Sector Command since inception in 1993, Orakwue called for more logistics support in terms of operational vehicles to ensure officials were visible on the roads; thereby ensuring prompt response to emergencies.

Deputy Corps Commander, Christy Okonkwo, while appreciating Zonal Commanding Officer for her visit, described her presence as a boost to colleagues, particularly the female folk.

“The presence of the first female Zonal Commander in RS5 Headquarters is a great encouragement for all of us, especially the female folk.

“We pray for God’s grace to enable the Amawbia Anambra-born Orakwue to deliver on her mandates,” she added.
