A 30-year-old suspected fake lawyer, Mr Obinna Orezue, an indigene of Abba in Anambra State has been arrested by the police today, 13th June 2024 in Otuocha High Court 2.
According to source,
the suspect came to represent the plaintiff in suit no. OT/120/2022.
He told the court that the defendant has not filed defence nor anything in the said suit.
The Hon. Presiding judge asked if he knew what to do if the defendant refuses to file a process, he said yes but could not tell the court what was to be done. Then the Judge asked another lawyer in court to help him, after the lawyer answered the question correctly, the imposter failed again when he was asked to repeat what the lawyer said.
The Judge further asked if Motions are being accompanied by prayer. He replied no.
The Judge asked him the University he attended, firstly he answered Kano. Secondly he answered UNIZIK and that he graduated in year 2015, later on he said he attended University of Igbariam.
He said that he was called to bar in 2019. He later told the court that he had financial challenges.
He was again asked the following questions:
What is the name of your project supervisor?
What is your call to bar number?
That he should mention the name of any law lecturer in the Universities he alleged to have attended.
He was asked to mention the name of the Dean of faculty of law in those schools he alleged to have attended.
HE WAS UNABLE TO ANSWER ALL THESE QUESTIONS
Meanwhile, further investigation revealed that the suspected fake lawyer did not submit credentials to his employer, a law firm based in Onitsha, M.T OLISE-EKE before the incident.
The Learned Judge ordered his employer to appear in court next week Wednesday for further clarification and possible prosecution.
