Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof Chuma-Udeh has expressed optimism that the presence of the news leadership of National Examination Council (NECO) would further boost Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice.
The Commissioner stated this while hosting State Co-ordinator, NECO, Mrs Emily Njoku and the Examination Administrator, Mr Ojo James who were in her office for familiarization visit.
She further said that the Governor’s passion for education and the need to end the era of schools without teachers in the State, informed his decision to recruits qualified teachers.
Reacting to questions from a team from the Auditor General’s office, who were in her office for the assessment of teachers recruitment and deployment exercise to Anambra State Public Schools, the Commissioner said that Governor Soludo gave the mandate for the exercise shortly after assumption of office, unlike others who would recruit few months before the end of their tenure.
She pointed out that the exercise which was strictly on merit has tremendously improved the school system, as schools have continued to win laurels in various international and national competitions.
Speaking earlier, leader of the performance audit team, Mrs Caritas Ezeonu stated that they were in the Commissioner’s office to have detailed information on the processes followed at ensuring quality education for pupils and students of Anambra State.
She appreciated Commissioner Chuma-Udeh for the warm reception and her detailed information to the team.
