Fr Pita’s Charity Tennis initiative celebrated yet another milestone with the Fr Pita Inter Academy Annual Competition, a fun-filled sports event dedicated to their academy team. This comes just weeks after the successful senior team tournament.
The day was unforgettable for the young athletes, who were cheered on by a large crowd of supportive family and friends. The most thrilling match was between Nnewi Academy and Onitsha Academy.
Fada Pita Muojekwu expressed deep appreciation for the children’s efforts and extended his gratitude to the President of Onitsha Sports Club, Chief Dan Okafor. This event marked the first time a club within the initiative volunteered as hosts and sponsors for the academy tournament.
He shared his vision of expanding the academy by creating more teams, emphasizing the initiative’s beginnings in 2015 to help young children harness their talents and aim for global success. He also thanked God for the event’s success despite the rain.
The president of Onitsha Country Club, Sir Kingsley Ajulufo, where the event was hosted, expressed his joy in seeing young kids engage in sports. He highlighted the importance of balancing academic development with achievements in other life aspects and hoped to see a similar initiative in Onitsha, with the Country Club establishing its own academy to support local children in sports.
Chief Ignatius Agbalizu (Igab), the event’s Chairman, praised the St Pita Tennis Academy children for their dedication and potential to become world champions. He also commended Fr Peter Muojekwu for his inspirational leadership in founding the academy and for his various other initiatives, including promoting Igbo education for diaspora kids, cultural awareness, and charity activities.
The President of Nnewi Academy, Mr. Uzochukwu Ewim, thanked Fr Peter Muojekwu for his efforts in helping children discover a love for sports. He pledged to support and guide the children towards becoming admirable individuals both on and off the pitch. Fr Peter presented a gift to the academy as a token of appreciation.
Onitsha Academy also received a gift and expressed their gratitude to Fr Peter Muojekwu. The Captain of the Sports Club, Mr. Ugochukwu, thanked Fr Peter for his mentorship and presented a cash gift of N50,000 in support of the initiative. Elite Club was announced as the next tournament hosts.
The event saw numerous gifts in support of Fr Peter’s initiative, showcasing the widespread love and unity among members toward the growth of the program.
Fr Philip Ibeneme, a guest at the event, spoke proudly of Fr Peter Muojekwu’s efforts. He emphasized the importance of sports in daily life, not only for competition or recreation but also as a healthy exercise. He praised the academy for steering young children away from crime and into healthy competition and lifestyles, praying for Fr Peter’s continued success.
