Anambra State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Awka, Anambra State, Mr Edozie Ajaegbu has pleaded with organizers of the nationwide protests slated for August 1 to forsake the protest now for sake of peace.

He acknowledged that protest by the citizens is enshrined in the nation’s 1999 constitution as amended under normal circumstances, but urged the organizers to rethink as the protest was not necessary at the moment.

Speaking to reporters in his office, Ajaegbu observed that no single progress could be recorded in a place devoid of peace, urging the citizens to pray for those in authority according to biblical injunctions.

He assured that President Bola Tinubu-led administration was making frantic efforts to better the people’s condition of living as a result of the economic downturn in the country.

“Being in authority is not an easy task, but because of human instinct, people aspire for leadership, hence the citizens should form the habit of praying for the leaders of the nation for peace to reign in Nigeria,” he said.

While noting that Tinubu was not oblivion of the economic hardship in the country, the NOA boss cited the President’s uncommon efforts in approving the new minimum wage and acccenting to it after its passage into law by the National Assembly as some of the Federal government’s efforts to ameliorating the sufferings of the masses.

He equally cited the President’s order to the leadership of NNPC to sort out crude oil immediately to Dangote at naira rate whom he said was having difficulties in accessing foreign exchange to bring his refinery to full operation as another glaring determination of the present government to reviving the nation’s ailing economy.

“Recall that the current government in the country is just one year old in office. Nigerian citizens should learn how to appreciate government efforts because leadership is not an enigma,” he added.
