Member representing Nnewi North/ South/ Ekwusigo, Federal Constituency, Anambra State, Uzokwe Ifeanyi has revealed his salary during a recent interview with Channel’s TV. Hon Peter Uzokwe showed he earned a monthly salary of N936,000, during the discussion of the implementation of a 50% salary cut that was approved in July.

Acknowledging that elected officials do not determine their own pay, he likened the process to fuel subsidy changes that require documentation and time for implementation.

He emphasized the transparency of the current speaker, RT Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, highlighting the openness of their plenary sessions and the absence of any secrecy.

He acknowledged his lack of expertise regarding the specific procedures involved in the salary reduction process but explained that it was initiated around mid-July and will take time to be fully executed

He said, “Here is my July salary, I earn N936,000, we approve that 50 percent cut in July and it has to go on process. We do not pay ourselves. It is just like the president saying fuel subsidy is gone, the next day, they will implement it. If Mr. President says he will reduce fuel price to N400, they will tell you that it will take a process, that they are documenting it.
