Chairmanship candidate of Labour Party (LP) for Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State in the September 28 election, Dr Chidiebere Nonso Uba is reportedly gaining spiritual support towards securing victory at the poll.

No fewer than 15 anointed men of God including Archbishops and bishops were said to have spiritually backed Uba’s candidacy ahead of the election.

Our reporter gathered that a prayer rally organized for the LP candidate in Nnewi, had sent jitters to his opponents camps who were said to have been campaigning without recourse to seeking God’s face.

Addressing newsmen at the event, Uba said although he had commenced intensive campaign, he considered it necessary to put God first in his political journey to become Chairman of Nnewi North.

“This prayer rally is a demonstration of the importance I attach to divine backing. I acknowledge God as the only kingmaker. Whoever he promotes can’t be demoted by any power,” he stated.

Emphasizing his preparedness to providing responsible and responsive government at the grassroots, the LP candidate listed his areas of focus to include youth empowerment, security, infrastructure, agricultural promotion, road network and policies that would cushion the sufferings of the masses.

“I will run an open door policy and provide an enabling environment for both indigenes and non indigenes alike. I’ll sponsor the Certificate of Participation for all the participants which will be handed over to each individual by next Wednesday,” he added.

Delivering a paper titled: “Violence-Free And Peaceful Co-existence, A Sine Qua Non For Good Governance Promotion In Our Society”, Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam emphasized on crime prevention which he described as any activity done as pro-active measure to stop crime occurrence.

The CP, represented by Nnewi Area Commander, ACP Anionwo Uchenna through ACO2 Mr Anene James argued that peace and harmony are guaranteed when people live together.

He identified tranquility, quietness, love, unity, progress, growth, security, and advancement as critical to achieving peaceful co-existence.

“Crime prevention comprises strategies and measures that seek to reduce the risk of crimes occurring, and their potential harmful effects on individuals and society, including fear of crime, by intervening to influence their multiple causes,” he said.

While advising participants to be security conscious wherever they were, the CP explained that security consciousness remained the first line of defense against security risk.

“It also means noticing people who behave strangely or any other thing that is different from the usual thing in your surroundings. You cannot protect yourself against something that you are oblivious of its existence.

“There’s need to avoid being predictable; learning to keep some secrets; avoid keeping late hours, and move with pepper spray in case of emergency attack.

“Others are to be informed and to be alert; watch one’s use of social media; trusting your gut, if cornered, to relinquish one’s valuables,” he added.
